Day 2

I need to think of a good alias for the old school strongman, whose transformation from string bean to Adonis was the envy of every boy of a certain era. I think it was advertised in comic books? I will call him Strongman for now.

But I am not a boy. Also, some of the visualization doesn’t make sense for me. Envisioning a strong, powerful chest? Not quite what I seek. Strength sounds good. I will visualize having toned arms and actual upper body strength.

The exercises are not unlike today’s boot camp/body weight exercises. I’m modifying them to work for me. One of the first is a dip/pushup between two chairs. I will work up to that. For now, incline push-ups against a bench or the counter will do. I need to do tricep dips and I’ll have done my Strongman for the day.

An old-school strongman will be my personal trainer

I am going to undertake a very old-fashioned exercise regime: Charles Atlas! My journey begins tomorrow.

I’m on the right track, baby

Just joined Planet Fitness (cheap and near my house, but I’m going to miss my old gym, which was close to my former workplace) and did their 30-minute circuit. In this summer heat, a gym membership (read: air conditioning) is essentially. Poor pup hasn’t gotten his walk yet today b/c it’s bloody hot out!

Chana masala, no rice, + a little raita: Lunch 05-22-2012

Breakfast 05-22-2012

Lucky Layla plain drinkable yogurt. Why didn’t this awesome drinkable yogurt (as opposed to name-brand, sugar-saturated (or fake sugar-saturated), artificial ingredient-loaded “yogurt smoothies”) enter my life years ago?

Backsliding

Aaaaand a macaroni and cheese midnight snack. Boo.

Dinner 05-21-2012

1/2 the steak (grilled ribeye w/ ají amarillo/parsley/avocado oil wet rub), 1/2 the salad (hearts of palm, avocado, cherry tomatoes) on spinach, served with mashed cauliflower & SkinnyGirl red wine.

Back in the saddle: Breakfast 05-21-2012

Slow-carb compliant, at last, after a weekend out of town consuming entirely too much fried food, salty food, and carbs. Today: Egg Beaters + 1 real egg + black beans + pickled jalapenos + Jaime’s Spanish Village tomatillo salsa + Follow Your Heart fake jack cheese drizzled generously with Tabasco Green Pepper Sauce and extra virgin avocado oil. I love taking Monday off!

Dinner 5/15/2012: Mary had a little lamb burger

Mary had a little lamb burger

Apothecary’s Greek lamb sliders, washed down with Graham Breck Brut Rose (South Africa). There was a house salad involved, too:

Note that it is after midnight and I am NOT SNACKING! Just blogging.
